Photography for Small Weddings & Micro Weddings Manchester, UK

In my years of experience shooting weddings, I always noticed a special kind of feeling that shows up in the most intimate weddings. It stems from a kind of connection you only share with each other + with the nearest and dearest people in your lives, and it is so powerful you can feel it through the pictures. Whether you've decided to downsize, have a micro-wedding or your original wedding plans were affected by Covid + you had to save the big party for later, it doesn't make it any less important.

In this page I compiled everything you need to know about short wedding photography coverage for small weddings or micro weddings in Manchester, prices and packages I offer + a list of best small venues and my top tips for couples that are looking to make the most of their day.

what is a Micro Wedding?

Micro Weddings are an option for couples looking for a more intimate celebration. Since 2020, Covid has put a huge spanner on everyone's plans to have a big party, and as the temporary restrictions + limitations on large gatherings rolled in, couples had to adapt their plans to a smaller and intimate but equally special version of their wedding. Micro Weddings have now become an option for many who still want to make their marriage official with a ceremony for now + save the big party for later.

do I need a photographer
for a small wedding?

Chances are you'll have the ultimate and most important people in your lives in one room. It's a massive reason to have a professional photographer on the day to document this occasion in a way that feels natural + relaxed so that this major milestone in your lives is captured in a unobtrusive way. Having shoot many micro weddings and smaller receptions, my approach involves capturing this intimate moment in a very creative and collaborative way with you, so you end up with a set of images that naturally reflects your personalities.

the perks of having

a small wedding

Opting for a micro wedding is an opportunity to ignore traditions and get married your own way. So throw the rules out the window: get ready together, wear whatever you like, have a first look, shoot your portraits before the ceremony, make a trip to that diner you love... do what you want. Because if there's is one silver lining here, is that you can finally get some epic photos of the stuff that truly matters to you.

small wedding photography

- consider getting ready together - it's a morning you'll remember forever in your lives. the atmosphere is so exciting because you're both looking forward to something you've been waiting for so long which makes the photos extra intimate + special.

- have a first look - a 'first look' is when couples opt to see each other for the first time on their wedding day. this is such a nostalgic moment that effortlessly transpires into beautiful photos

- pick literally anywhere in Manchester to have some portraits together - since you don't have to stay the whole day in one venue, the portraits can be shot in whatever location you choose. we don't need to be tied to one area in town - let's take a trip to your favourite park or the place you had your first date - any spot that holds a special meaning to you both counts.

- make this experience as nostalgic as possible - theres no timeline or itinerary to follow, and when the clock isn't ticking you can relax and fully embrace this moment with each other.

*Not getting married in Manchester?

No worries. I offer coverage anywhere in the UK.

I'm Niall + I'm a Manchester wedding photographer. My style revolves around creative photography with a fun documentary approach. I offer small wedding photography and short coverage for micro weddings, package prices that cover 2 or 3 hours in order to capture the key moments of the day. I LOVE shooting small weddings because they are so personal and intimate + without sticking to strict timeline we can have so much fun capturing what matters most to you.

Me and my partner were both extremely happy with the quality of photos and how good of a job Niall did at making us feel comfortable whilst he was taking photos.

It was a surprise engagement photoshoot that my partner didn't know was coming. Not only did he do an amazing job once she knew what was going on but he managed to stealthily capture the perfect moment without her noticing. We can both be fairly awkward (especially in front of a camera) yet somehow he managed to make it feel like we were just spending time together. I would highly recommend for any photography work and he will definitely be at our wedding.

Niall was a fantastic photographer to work with. From the pre-wedding photoshoot, which looked stunning despite the stormy weather and mud, to the day itself. Each photograph he took tells a story. The relaxed, un-intrusive style means each guest has been captured to show their true personality. Photographs are beautifully edited and looked incredible in all weathers. ( We had wind, rain, clouds, sun and blue skies!) The optional use of smoke bombs add a quirky flare to the day. We opted for a second photographer on the day to help capture all the key moments. She was equally as great to work with and super friendly. One thing that really makes this photographer stand out from the crowd is the stop-motion films created from the shoots. This is a beautiful way to commemorate the day from start to finish!

We got really lucky by having Niall doing our wedding in these troubled covid times. Our wedding ceremony got cancelled but by having this lovely photoshoot with him with Teepees with close friends and family. We felt whole as this helped to close that chapter. It was a true experience which we will always remember. Everyone loved the photos, some said they looked like a movie. Thank you!!
